There will be plenty of opportunity for visitors to the 2024 Spar Kirkwood Wildsfees to be part of the action in the daily horse demonstrations.

One of the activities, planned by legendary Alexandria horse whisperer, JC Schoeman, is a tug-of-war between members of the audience and horses.

Spoiler alert – the horses usually win!

There will be other opportunities for members of the crowd to be part of the show.

Schoeman has been riding horses since he was 10, and his connection with his animals shines through during his shows.

There is a particularly strong bond with his “trick horse” Amigo, which bends down, rolls over, and allows Schoeman to ride standing on her back. Horse fun and cowboy games planned for the Spar Kirkwood Wildsfees include musical poles (musical chairs cowboy-style), pick up a friend, pole bending (a race between poles) and double horse single barrel, where two riders race each other around barrels.

There will be a string of 10 horses taking part in the shows, and another 10 ponies for children to ride around the grounds.

The shows are free to ticket holders, and will be held daily in the MTN Arena from Friday to Sunday, June 28 to 30.
