BIDDING farewell to an inseparable Husky pair, Kyno and Cloe, who were rescued from very shocking conditions and took a long road to recovery, caused Uitenhage SPCA staff members to shed tears of joy.
But finally, the pair found their “fur-ever” happy home with Brenda Lombard, where they can live happily ever after.
According to Clarissa van Deventer, Adoption Officer at the Uitenhage & District SPCA, Inspector Mariaan Wentzel attended to a complaint around June 2020.
“Upon her arrival at the property, she found dogs that were in very poor conditions. Chained and in serious need of veterinary assistance,” said Van Deventer.
“At the time, Inspector Wentzel had to obtain a warrant to remove the dogs from the property with assistance from the local police. After much deliberation the owner agreed to willingly sign the dogs over to her.”
Upon the dogs’ arrival at the SPCA, sadness and anger hit all the staff when they saw the condition of the two. They immediately afterwards were taken to the Uitenhage Vet for medical treatment.
“They were emaciated, and treated for severely matted coats, worms and eye infections. Kyno’s eye couldn’t be saved and had to be removed. Both dogs were also sterilized.”
Kyno and Cloe since then have spent a substantial time at the Uitenhage SPCA kennels and after they had fully recovered, they were put up for adoption.
“As many of you will know, homing a dog is hard. But Kyno and Cloe couldn’t be separated, and homing two adult senior dogs together was a huge challenge. We were determined to find them a home together.”
Then came Brenda Lombard, a young lady from Uitenhage who visited the kennels and instantly knew Kyno and Cloe would be her dogs.
She completed the Adoption Application and was up for the challenge for senior dogs, giving them the best home, love, and attention that she had to offer. She was very excited to take them home. After Inspection, Brenda’s application to adopt them was successful and approved.
“We don’t know who was more excited: Brenda or us at the SPCA. It was a bittersweet moment as we will miss their early morning chit chats, but we are extremely happy to see them go home. They are beautiful, magnificent, and smart. Powerful yet graceful with eyes that pierced our souls.
“When Brenda came to fetch them, Cloe jumped straight into the car and Kyno followed, looked up as if to say ‘Okay, we are ready to get to our new home, let’s go!’”
Brenda said Kyno and Cloe have adapted very well and the three of them are inseparable.
“The moment I saw them at the SPCA they stole my heart. I want to thank the SPCA for keeping these dogs. They came into my life at the perfect time. They’ve changed my life and I love them to bits,” said Brenda.
- Thank you, Brenda Lombard, for extending your family with Kyno and Cloe who were in dire need of a loving home.
