2019 has been a busy year of firsts for College Hill Preparatory School, with various new developments and improvements to the campus.
The school’s last venture for the year will be its annual Games Day/Fun Run on Saturday, November 2nd where there will be games, a raffle for amazing prizes, inflatables and loads of different food trucks, as well as a sweet start to the day with a Candy Dash fun run.
“College Hill has taken huge strides in improving and maintaining its reputation in the Uitenhage community.
“It has always been viewed as a “little school”, due to the age gap that they cater for – Grade R to Grade 3,” said Nicole Mohamed, who handles the public relations and marketing of the school.
Over the last few years, however, College Hill has not only grown in learner numbers, but in experiences, campus enhancements and setting its footprint in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.
“This year has been a fast paced, busy year for College Hill, as coach Justin Peach was employed as the school’s sports co-ordinator who not only coaches rugby and cricket at the school, but also arranges various matches for the school’s various teams,” said Mohamed.
“This is a huge development for College Hill, as the school only recently started taking part in sports competitions.”
With all this sport on the go, the school has needed to invest in school buses, one of the many firsts for College Hill. The first two school buses were purchased for College Hill in the third term this year. A very big first for the school.
The sports program has also seen the school host their very first Derby Day, against Hand-haaf, during August 2019.
“With all these big needs and projects, the school has had to rely heavily on fundraising and community support.
This prompted the school to host a Golf Day and the community really pulled together to provide the golfers with a lovely experience on the day,” said Mohamed.
Campus improvements, such as a new garage/club house, landscaping of the Grade R area, paving of the waiting area and general maintenance around the school, is largely thanks to all the help of supporters, donors and sponsors.
“The school is fortunate to have the love and support from the community to continue growing. The College Hill family would like to thank all their supporters, sponsors and donors for all that they have done for the school this year,” said Mohamed.
