The Friendly City Comedy Crew (TFCCC) kicked off this year with a barrel full of laughs at their monthly Open Mic night, held at the Savoy Theatre recently.
Founded by comedienne Chantal Bezuidenhout and rookie comedienne, Nolwazi Nkwandla, this event has grown from strength to strength with some amazing comedians gracing their stage.
The next Last Laugh Open Mic takes place on Sunday, July 30 at 18:00 at the Savoy Theatre in Gqeberha.
Tickets are available via Quicket.
Besides local comedians such as Francois Scholtz, Boeta B, Jermaine Matroos and Fiks Mahola, TFCCC is also attracting the attention of comedians from other cities.
Most recently, Cape Town funny guy, Ambrose Uren popped in to host the Last Laugh, before he did a run at the National Arts Festival. Callum Hitchcock, Zachary Esau and Thulasizwe Sithole – also from Cape Town – brought their show to Gqeberha en route to Makhanda.
Comedy show at the Rose and Shamrock
TFCCC is always looking for opportunities to expand their reach and provide some light-hearted entertainment to audiences across the region. Randall Roman, a crew member, leapt at the opportunity to start an open mic night at the well-known watering hole, the Rose and Shamrock in Kariega.
Coupled with their regular karaoke night, TFCCC will be bringing some of their comedians to the stage for a couple of laughs. Popular local comedian and emcee, Ondela will be hosting the event, and joining him on stage will be Ngcaphephe, Nolwazi, Chantal and Randall. The Comedy Show takes place on Friday, July 28 at 19:00 at the Rose and Shamrock in Caledon Street, Kariega.
