A farm owner was shot dead and his son injured during a home invasion at a farm in the Kinkelbos area last night.

A farm owner was shot dead and his son injured during a
house robbery on their farm near route R72 toward Alexandria in the vicinity of
Kinkelbos last night, September 5.

At approximately 18:30, police were summoned to a scene of a
house robbery at the farm.

At the scene, a 55-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to
the upper body and was declared dead, and his 30-year-old son, who was also
allegedly shot during the attack, sustained a gunshot wound to the upper body
but survived.

Police spokesperson, Sgt. Majola Nkohli, said that the
injured son and his mother, with unknown injuries, were rushed to the nearest
hospital. “At this stage, the details of the alleged incident are sketchy. Police are investigating a case of murder with
additional charges of attempted murder and house robbery for further
investigation,” Nkohli said.

Police are searching for at least three armed men. Any person who might be able to assist with information that could lead to the arrest of
the suspects that are still at large, is requested to contact the nearest police
station.
