IN compliance with the TVET college calendar, the Eastcape Midlands College has applied a staggered approach to all its teaching and learning activities.

According to Kate Oladimeji, EMC Communications Supervisor, “All planning towards teaching and learning activities, including registration has been campus specific, taking into cognisance that attendance during Level 3 should not exceed 33% to 50% of the campus’ capacity.

“In adherence to COVID-19 protocol, we have applied a staggered approach to commencement of classes. It will be from the 1st of February to the 15th of February 2021 depending on the capacity of the Campuses.”

Students have been notified of their respective dates and more information can be found on the College’s official Facebook page.

“Registration is still ongoing, hence, a list of comparison data hasn’t been put together. However, most of the programmes are full, in accordance with the student number projections.”

Oladimeji said the future is looking good for EMC. he College is committed to fulfilling its mandate of serving the EMC community through providing quality education to its students.

“It is no doubt that COVID-19, affected every institution in diverse ways, however with the support of the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) and dedicated EMC staff members, the College has been able to apply a blended approach to teaching and learning that incorporates remote learning.

“Ongoing support is provided to lecturing staff to enhance blended approach as well as improve lesson preparation and delivery,” said Oladimeji.
