Between May 18 and May 24, Daniel Pienaar THS will host the Eastern Province men’s over-40 cricket team for their National Inter-provincial tournament, where the school’s Head of Sport, Zarier Sirkhotte, will be the Head coach of the Eastern Province team.
According to the school, Sirkhotte has been coaching the EP over 40 team and EP over-50 teams since 2022.
During the tournament, the EP team will be staying at the school’s hostel. Additionally, they will be playing four matches at the school.
The side will be captained by Protea all-rounder, Nathan Jones, who was a member of the Protea team that won the World Cup last year, with DP Old Boy, Jacques Stroebel, also a member of the Eastern Province team. DP’s first team coach, Zaahidah Sirkhotte, will be one of the scorers at the tournament.
Afterwards, a Protea team will be selected for the World Cup in Pakistan later in the year.
The EP team will face the Dolphins, Border, Lions and Easterns cricket teams.
