DESPATCH – A 56-year-old woman was murdered in Despatch, and the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Despatch is appealing to the public for assistance.
According to SAPS spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge, on Sunday, 18 January 2026, at approximately 20:50, SAPS Despatch members responded to a complaint and discovered the body of a female (56) lying on a gravel road in the Mahashe area, Despatch.
“The victim sustained multiple stab wounds to the neck and upper body,” Beetge said.
He added that the victim was declared deceased at the scene.
“A case of murder has been opened and is currently under investigation by SAPS Despatch Detectives.
“Police are urging anyone who may have information that could assist in the investigation, or who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area at the time of the incident, to come forward.”
