Each child that travels with Wings & Wishes receives a care pack with some essentials, such as toiletries, pyjamas and activities, for while they are in hospital. For bus travellers, this includes refreshments.

Dust off your best country outfit and dancing boots to support Wings & Wishes, the only registered non-profit organisation in South Africa that focuses exclusively on providing transport for critically and chronically ill children in need of life-saving and specialised medical treatment anywhere in South Africa.

The organisation remains a valuable resource for doctors who depend on them to transport their patients to receive medical care. Medical conditions vary from cancer, organ transplants, rare diseases, and heart conditions, to bone marrow transplants amongst others.

“We are proud to be playing this crucial role in saving the lives of children and witnessing each child’s journey to growth, wellness and a healthier and better quality of life,” says Inge Human, Manager at Wings & Wishes.

“Wings & Wishes is so much more than just the sponsorship of a flight or a bus. They are the light in the dark tunnel for families in their journey navigating life with a sick child. It takes away some of the stress of worrying how to get to medical treatment.

“As Wings & Wishes does not receive any government funding, the organisation is hard at work to raise the necessary funds to assist on average three children and an accompanying adult per day, seven days per week!,” Human said.

On Saturday, September 30 they are hosting a dance at the Ernest Swanepoel Hall in Despatch. Everyone is welcome to come in their best country hat and jeans to help make a difference in a child’s life. Tickets are available from Megan, 071 410 0153 at R100 per person. A cash bar will be available, and you may bring your own snacks. There will be loads of lucky draw prizes to be won.
