MEMBERS from the police’s Anti-Gang Unit is squeezing the space of criminals in the Uitenhage Cluster, as these members are committed to turning the tide against crime by means of intensified crime prevention operations with the focus on the continuous recovery of drugs and illegal firearms.
Anti-Gang Unit members acted on information received about illegal drugs and a house in Sinyane Street, Kamesh was searched.
“A total of 1 126 mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R56 300, and R19 515 in cash were confiscated,” said police spokesperson Captain Gerda Swart.
“Three male suspects between the ages of 26 and 59 years were arrested on a charge of illegal dealing in drugs.”
The acting Uitenhage Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ronald Koll commended the Anti-Gang Unit members and said: “Police visibility will be enhanced over the festive season in this Cluster and the police will continue to conduct random stop-and-search and intelligence-driven operations to effectively deal with crime generators to ensure that our communities are rid of illegal substances”.
The police encourages the community to work with them in reducing crime and they appeal to the community to provide valuable information that will lead to the arrest of those involved in crime.
