REJECT and report any person or persons that are buying or selling suspected stolen property.

This warning comes from police in the Nelson Mandela Bay following several incidents whereby electronic devices were stolen.

SAPS Uitenhage detectives are searching for three suspects who allegedly overpowered security officials at EMC tertiary institution in High Street, Kariega at about 21:50 on Monday evening, 9 August 2021. It is further alleged that the armed suspects tied the security officials up and took their cell phones and keys.

“The suspects then gained access to the main building by kicking down the doors. They took several computers and fled from the scene in an unknown vehicle. The suspects are unknown at this stage and a case of business robbery is under investigation,” said police spokesperson Captain Gerda Swart.

Police are appealing to secondhand dealers to alert them whenever anyone comes in to sell suspicious items. At the same time, police are warning the communities and business owners not to buy or receive stolen property as they will be held accountable if found in possession of the suspected stolen property.

Anyone who can assist police in the investigation relating to the robbery at the college in Kariega is asked to contact D/Constable Frederick Bosman on 078 196 6590, SAPS Uitenhage on 041 996 3438. All information is confidential, and callers may remain anonymous.
