The Christadelphians gospel group suffered a major loss last week when their bass singer, Michael Grootboom passed away after a short illness.

The group is arranging a memorial service for Grootboom on Thursday, June 8, in the Dale Street Church in Despatch, at 19:00. The funeral will be held at the same church on Saturday, June 10.

The Christadelphians, established in the Kabah township of Uitenhage (now Kariega) in 1969, is a big part of the local and national gospel scene of our country.

They celebrated their 50th Anniversary in 2019 and are the recipients of many gospel awards.

They undertook a successful tour of Greece, Jerusalem and Egypt in 2021 and at that occasion received the Plaque of Tiberias Award. The group boasts 18 music albums and a bigger number of DVDs.

The group is fully booked out for August and September of this year and is now lining up performances for October onwards, including their Christmas Tour.
