NELSON Mandela Bay Municipality Acting Mayor Councillor Thsonono Buyeye has congratulated the NMBM sponsored Chippa United Football Club on the new kit officially unveiled last Friday.

“As the municipality we have invested a lot in Chippa United over the years and like any investor we want to see the returns of that investment,” said Acting Mayor Councillor Thsonono Buyeye.

“Bringing Chippa United here for 20 years was a decision taken even though it means every three years we come back and see. There are conditions attached to that and one of them is that Chippa United must not be relegated.”

“I’m mentioning this because I said we are tired, we don’t want anything associated with us always at the bottom of the log. This year we want to see Chippa United challenging for honours and bringing more Cup games into our City.”

He was joined by Eastern Cape MEC for Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Fezeka Nkomonye and MBDA Chief Executive Ashraf Adam in congratulating the club on the new kit.

Club chairman, Siviwe Chippa Mpengesi thanked the municipality for its continued support and committed that the club would not have to fight against relegation during this season.
