THE South African Police in Despatch are conducting an inquest after an eight-year old boy was allegedly electrocuted by an open electrical wire in the bushes in Kingstown, Despatch.
According to police information, two children were allegedly playing in the bushes near Mawawa Street, Kingstown when community members suddenly heard a scream and saw a child running out of the bushes.
“The child then informed the community members that the other boy was shocked by an open wire that was lying on the ground. The child was rushed to hospital but was declared dead,” said police spokesperson Captain Gerda Swart.
The incident happened on September 12 at about 16:00. By time going to print, the name of the child had not yet been released.
