BIKER clubs in Uitenhage took the initiative to provide much needed goods to the elderly at Plekki ini Son old age home.
The owner of this old age home at 9 Victoria Street in Uitenhage, Dawn Grobler said they were blessed by many different motorcycle groups.
“It was an absolutely amazing experience,” she said.
Grobler, a registered carer for the past ten years, said she was very thankful for the motorcyclists’ generosity, love and friendliness. “Each one of them is precious to us,” she said.
The home has been in operation since last November and is in the process of being registered as a non-profit organisation.
Grobler said the registration process is a lengthy process.
“We do not receive any sponsorships or financial help other than the monthly payments from residents. This is used to pay the carers and to buy food.”
Jo-Anne Williams who is the secretary of Trible Cats Club in Uitenhage said they try to do as much charity work possible within the community.
Williams, who started the initiative, said: “I saw a post on Facebook that they were in dire need.”
The Trible Cats Club which was established earlier this year was able to provide goods to other old age homes as well namely, Rosa Munch House for the Aged in Uitenhage and The Avery Den old age home in Despatch.
“We plan to continue with this initiative as the need arises,” said Williams.
She further said they were planning to have a soup kitchen on 24 September.
Some of the other motorcycle clubs that contributed were Black Fangs MC, Confraria MC, Victory Riders, Bad to the Bone MCC, Ghost Riders Uitenhage, Entangled Freedom, Christian Motorcycle Associations, Chapter 13, Ride for Fun, Lone Reapers and Black Patch Riders.
