IF you use your imagination at work, at school and even at home, you can unleash your animal instinct as part of the World Wide Fund for Nature’s (WWF) #WearItWild campaign from 14 October to 15 November – and do your bit for nature.
The world’s wildlife needs our help, populations are diminishing rapidly, and we need to take urgent action to ensure that species don’t go extinct in our lifetime. Habitat destruction, overfishing and poaching are having a drastic effect on animal populations worldwide. Here in South Africa, on average, three rhinos are poached a day.
The WWF’s Wear It Wild campaign encourages interested parties to host a fun day with a difference, where each person can dress-up as his or her favourite animal. Participants are encouraged to donate R10 to WWF SA, to continue WWF SA’s efforts to protect our planet’s rich natural heritage.
Schools can participate by asking children to dress up for a R10 donation to WWF and even spend some time in the classroom making wildlife face masks. Visit WWF’s resources page for fun poster and costume ideas for #WearItWild.
