The suspect arrested by the Provincial Organised Crime Anti-Gang Unit in Gqeberha for the alleged involvement in two murder cases reported on August 26 in Kamesh will appearat the Kariega Magistrate’s Court today, August 30.
According to police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, this is after the suspect was arrested in the early hours of Thursday, August 26.
She said this follows after two men, aged 24 and 41, were fatally shot on Kersogie and Fiskaal Streets, Kamesh, on August 26.
“According to the information, there were allegations that suspects approached the house where the deceased and another victim were standing at the front of the house. One of the suspects fired shots, and the deceased and another victim started running away,” she reported.
“The deceased, Emmanuel Ralph Uithaler (24), was found at the back of the house with gunshot wounds. The other victim ran away and only sustained a gunshot wound to the right upper arm,” she added.
She further added, “Soon after SAPS Kamesh attended to the scene on Kersogie Street, they were called to a scene on Fiskaal Street, where they found the body of Shaun Meyer (41) in the kitchen with gunshot wounds. According to information gathered on the first scene, the victim ran into Meyer’s backyard on Fiskaal Street and was followed by the suspects. Shots were fired through the back door, and Meyer died on the scene.”
She explained that an investigation by detectives led to the arrest of a 23-year-old suspect on Thursday, August 29, at approximately 04:40 in Kamesh.
