Khazimla Adam (brown uniform), head girl of Woodridge College, will soon be in university, and established this programme of warriors that will continue with the good work in their respective areas closer to their schools.

Khazimla Adam, Chief Director of Ithemba For Uluntu (NPC) in Kariega, has taken it upon herself to establish collaborations with the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Health Department to tackle the pressing issue of illegal dumping in the municipality.

Adam has been consistent in her efforts to clean up schools and encourage learners to fight against illegal dumping in society.

As the head girl of Woodridge College, Adam is determined to make a positive impact in her community and school.

She has established a program of “warriors” who will continue the good work in their respective areas, closer to their schools.

The NMBM health department, led by MMC for Public Health, Councillor Thsonono Buyeye and Executive Director for Public Health, Sizwe Mvunelwa, has partnered with Ithemba For Uluntu to address the issue of illegal dumping, which poses a significant risk to the lives of community members, particularly children and the sick.

Adam emphasised that illegal dumping is unacceptable, as every household has been provided with a large bin for waste collection every week.

“Additionally, the municipality has designated dumping sites in every ward, leaving no excuse for illegal dumping,” the teen said.

Adam’s dedication to environmental activism stems from her concern about the bad smell caused by dead animals, the presence of big rats, and the risk of children contracting deadly diseases and ticks from playing with trash.

“I urge the community of NMBM to individually and collectively stop illegal dumping and fight those who are criminally doing so,” Adam concluded.
