ROTARACT is busy building a library in Uitenhage. In doing so they need the assistance of the public!
The Rotaract Club of Uitenhage South is currently running a Build a Library Project. This project will benefit a childcare home in Uitenhage as its aim is to create a conducive space for learning and for fostering the love of reading.
“We have begun collecting books and are looking forward to receiving several hundred from a Rotary book project in Johannesburg, but in order for this library project to be truly successful, we are seeking donations from the public,” said Singathwa Poswa, president of the Rotaract Club of Uitenhage South.
What they are specifically looking for are the following: books (used and/or new), magazines and dictionaries.
“We have identified a suitable place for the library at a needy school, but we also need the infrastructure for a library. This includes shelves, tables and chairs, carpets, and a basic computer. Availability of all these resources will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth running of this project,” said Poswa.
The Rotaract Club of Uitenhage South was chartered in 2016 and consists of a diverse group of young adults between the ages of 18 and 35 who wish to make a positive impact on the Uitenhage community.
The club currently has 10 registered members, and their main objective is to improve the conditions of local communities and to help in empowering the lives of others.
