WALKERS will take to the streets on October 31st in Algoa FM’s Big Walk for Cancer 2020 presented by the Eastern Cape Department of Health, in support of those affected by cancer.

COVID-19 restrictions on mass events have been turned into an advantage as this year’s participation is not restricted to those living in Nelson Mandela Bay metropole.

“Algoa FM’s Big Walk for Cancer is the Eastern Cape’s biggest mass participation charity event, and we are excited about the opportunity of involving everyone who has been affected by cancer,” said Algoa FM marketing manager Lesley Geyer.

“We expect to see pictures of walkers in pink T-shirts from sites all around the world as people complete their five kilometre walk through their neighbourhoods.”

This year’s beneficiary is the Igazi Foundation. The funds will go towards purchasing equipment needed to be able to continue treating blood cancer cases in the Eastern Cape.

“Igazi is humbled to be a beneficiary of the first virtual Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer, allowing us to continue serving the needs of blood cancer patients in the Eastern Cape,” says Cole Cameron of the Igazi Foundation.

The Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer has been a highlight on the Eastern Cape’s events calendar for the past 22 years.

“We are looking forward to the challenge before us as we go virtual this year,” says Algoa FM Managing Director Alfie Jay.
