This invitation is from the new owners of Chit Chat Coffee & Eatery, Paul and Suzette van Eyssen, who took over the reigns from Wayne and Andene Torlage of this popular restaurant in Uitenhage.
Chit Chat came to town seven years ago and has since then become a popular eatery for light meals and splendid chit chat among friends and family, to lighten up a day.
Owning Chit Chat is like a dream come true for the Van Eyssen couple and their daughter Jomarié, who is a silent partner of the restaurant. Chit Chat not only has new owners, but moved to new premises at 2 Mosel Road, the circular glass building with a splendid view overlooking town.
“Chit Chat has a successful business recipe and we will build on it, expanding its menu and services. Owning this restaurant has been a dream of ours for years,” said Paul.
Sunday lunches
Chit Chat offers breakfasts and light lunches during weekdays (Tuesdays to Fridays) from 08:00 to 16:00 and Saturdays from 08:00 to 15:00. On Sundays they are open from 08:00 to 15:00 and sit down Sunday lunches will be served from 12:00. Lunch orders will only be on bookings for sit-downs and take-aways.
The popular meals like the light breakfast, chicken schnitzel, chicken strips, chicken cordon bleu and 1kg pre-smoked spare ribs will still be on the menu.
Future plans include serving supper and hosting small events like special celebrations and office gatherings or parties.
Bottomless coffee
The grand opening of the new Chit Chat is on Saturday and the opening special breakfast will be served with bottomless filter coffee (R49.90). Tomorrow (Friday), bottomless coffee will be served with all meals.
“We wish to thank Wayne and Andene for offering us the opportunity to continue serving the community through ownership of Chit Chat. Also a huge thank you to our friends, family and fellow congregants from Spirit Life Ministries as well as pastor Monto and Claudia van der Merwe who stood with us in prayer,” said Paul and Suzette.
