INDEED it was a matter of stronger together when the community of De Mist joined hands with the De Mist Neighbourhood Watch for their first clean-up project.
This clean-up project was held last Saturday at the play park in Single Oak Avenue, the small park close to Conradie Street as well as the open area next to the railway opposite the water canal. Several residents, adhering to COVID-19 protocol participated.
“We were pleased with the turnout and especially the three elderly, all older than 75 years, who came to assist. We wish through this kind of commitment by community members to take back our neighbourhood and re-establish it as a safe and family friendly environment,” said Gary Hendricks, a member of the De Mist Neighbourhood Watch.
“We also wish to request residents of all neighbourhoods to take action, the more we achieve turnaround, the more this town will become what we once were proud of.”
He also requested for De Mist residents to take ownership of the immediate surroundings of their yards and streets and to keep them clean.
“It was a good start. Now we must maintain it and keep our hands on these areas that we cleaned,” said Hendricks.
The De Mist Neighbourhood Watch would like to thank CCV Steel as well as DM Motor Mag for their involvement and making a vehicle available to assist with the clean-up project.
