A shop owner in Kariega chased after fleeing robbery suspects this morning, Friday, September 3 and with the assistance of police, successfully arrested one.
At approximately 06:45 this morning, four suspects armed with knives entered a shop in Durban Street and demanded cash.
Police spokesperson, Capt. André Beetge, said that a scuffle ensued between the shop owner and the suspects who later fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.
“The owner chased after them on foot. A passing police vehicle noticed the owner chasing after the suspects and went to his assistance. A 40-year-old suspect was arrested. The suspect is detained on a charge of business robbery and will appear in the Kariega Magistrates Court on Monday, September 6, 2021,” Beetge said.
