IN anticipation of KwaNobuhle running out of water owing to the current drought, as an urgent intervention, Nelson Mandela Bay municipality is working against time to complete a pipeline that will link KwaNobuhle to the Nooitgedacht water pipeline.
The Nooitgedacht water pipeline draws water from the Gariep Dam, of which the dam level currently is above 70%.
KwaNobuhle is one of the areas that are serviced by Kouga Dam, which currently has a level of below 5%.
Owing to this low storage level, the KwaNobuhle area has already started experiencing intermittent water supply.
The pipeline under construction will be joined into KwaNobuhle through Kwa- Nobuhle Pump Station currently being refurbished.
Work in preparation of the KwaNobuhle Pump Station to receive water from Nooitgedacht water line is almost complete.
The Mayoral Committee Member for Infrastructure and Engineering, Thso-nono Buyeye visited the KwaNobuhle Pump Station on Tuesday to check on its readiness to receive water from the Nooitgedacht water line.
