WITH quite a few strong teams entering the EGR Bowls Tournament, it was the team consisting of three Uitenhage Bowling Club members and one PE Bowling Club member that won this prestige event.

The team consisting of a majority of local players managed to take the tournament by winning all five of the games held recently at Walmer 8th Bowling Club.

The winners of the prestige ERG Bowls Tournament are Victor Transell (UBC), Herman Steyn (PEBC), Alex Swartz (UBC) and Leonard Transell (UBC) seen here with Carl Vermeulen (Personal Trust).

Two of the Uitenhage Bowling Club members and the PE Bowling Club member were defending champions going into the tournament.

The winning team consisted of Victor Transell (UBC), Herman Steyn (PEBC), Alex Swartz (UBC) and Leonard Transell (UBC).

Another team from Uitenhage Bowling Club, Twakkies Coetzee, Peter Baxter, Gert van Huyssteen and Marius Ferreira, did what many teams in the game of bowls try to do, but failed at. That is to pick up eight shots in one end, which is like a hole-in-one in the game of golf.

Well done to these players.
