Volkswagen Group South Africa (VWSA)
has been made aware of an online scam in which fake job vacancies at VWSA are
advertised and applicants are charged money during the recruitment process.
This scam, which the company strongly
condemns, takes advantage of job seekers by requiring payment before they are
interviewed, and again when they are sent a false appointment letter featuring
the old Volkswagen logo.
VWSA would never charge money at any point in
its recruitment process, and all job vacancies are listed directly on the
Careers page on the company website.
A case has been opened with the Kariega police
in relation to this scam. The company urges job seekers to not trust job
listings that require payment, and to report any such listings to their nearest
police station.
