A 93-year-old man and his cousin (36) died after their house in KwaNobuhle recently burnt down.

Police spokesperson, Capt. Gerda Swart, said that the relatives died in the blaze after efforts by neighbours to extinguish the fire at the Lupuwana Street home proved futile.

“The Fire Department attended and extinguished the fire. The victims were later identified as Thobile Mpondo (93) and Nkululeko Kwenaite (36),” Swart said.

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage and is under investigation. Police are investigating an inquest.
