The SPAR Kirkwood Wildsfees has welcomed the lifting of
COVID-19 restrictions just ahead of the opening of the 2022 festival today, June 24.
“The COVID cloud has lifted. Great Karoo sunshine and clear
evening skies are predicted for most of the weekend, so we expect thousands of
visitors just wanting to celebrate and to have fun with family and friends,”
says SPAR Kirkwood Wildsfees director, Jenni Honsbein.
The marquees are up, the entertainers are excited to be on
the biggest stage in the Eastern Cape and hundreds of tickets have already been
sold.
“With restrictions lifted there will be tickets for everyone
to purchase at the gates,” says Honsbein.
Great outdoor festival weather is predicted for the weekend
of Friday, June 24 to Sunday, June 26.
The 2022 Wildsfees will feature a constellation of 24
national stars on a giant stage, over 300 selected stallholders and plenty of
all-day entertainment and action for the whole family.
For kids there is a carnival area with clowns, face painting
and a play ball pond and for the young at heart there is a fun fair with
traditional rides.
Visitors will also be able to explore the taste of sushi,
oysters, charcuterie platters and, of course, biltong, kudu burgers and
traditional festival fare.
Conservation features in displays by the South African
National Parks Board and Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency, bee-keeping
expos and more.
In addition, the festival hosts the Eastern Cape’s biggest
motor and outdoor expos, as well as an agricultural zone and a Boerboel show on
the Saturday.
