Despatch police looking for next of kin of alleged hit-and-run victim

Police in Despatch are looking for the next of kin or anyone who can identify the body of a man who died in an accident on Monday, July 3 in Perseverance.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, at approximately 19:02 on Monday police responded to a complaint on the M19, Perseverance, Despatch, opposite the Bayland informal settlement.

“On arrival, they found the body of an unknown man with head injuries. It is alleged that the deceased was a pedestrian and was hit by a vehicle/truck.

“The deceased was dressed in a purple jacket, brown jersey, blue trousers and black tekkies, and he is aged between 40 and 45 years of age,” said Janse van Rensburg.

Anyone who can assist in tracing his family or may be able to identify him is asked to contact SAPS Despatch D/WO Carol Els on 041 9338000 or 082 441 7828, or contact Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or the nearest police station or send information via MYSAPSAPP.
