On June 28 to 30, the 57-hour challenging Ride for Bibles was eagerly anticipated after weeks of preparation.
The event was successful, raising R127 000 for 1 800 Bibles.
According to Johan Oosthuizen, “Memories of past hardships, like floods and shelter needs, weighed on my mind, leaving me physically and emotionally drained. Balancing the event’s organization with constant requests for essentials was tough.”
Pastor Marius, a fellow coffee lover, brought much-needed comfort as preparation began early Friday morning.
Despite Oosthuizen’s fatigue, standing beside energetic Leon inspired him to push forward for Huis van Heerlikheid’s cause. The demanding route tested the cyclists’ endurance and resolve.
Despite physical fatigue during the ride, the camaraderie and gospel songs lifted their spirits.
Saturday’s participation, including fun runners carrying crosses, highlighted the event’s spiritual impact. Oosthuizen expressed gratitude towards the community, church, and sponsors, Jesus for Safety, Fuel on Wheels and his wife Ronelle for their unwavering support.
