The much-anticipated Despatch Athletics Club annual road race draws closer. Set to take place August 31, the road race will begin at 07:00 at the Despatch SuperSpar on Dr Rabie Street.
According to the Despatch Athletics Club Secretary, Yvette Jonker, “Despatch Athletics Club was established in 2012 and this year marks the 13th edition of the annual SuperSpar Despatch 10km road race.”
With 92 active members of the Despatch Athletics Club, they aim to make this year’s festivities even more of a success.
On the day, there will be two races taking place, the 5km and 10km race.
The race is an invite only race, meaning participants are required to enter before the date.
Entries for the races are open to the public. Entrants can enter via WebTickets online until Wednesday, August 28, Friday at Despatch Spar from 18:00 until 19:30 and on the morning of the race from 05:30.
The Despatch SuperSpar 5km and 10km road race is inclusive to all, young and older residents of the Nelson Mandela Bay. Tickets for licensed runners for the 10km is R100 and an additional R50 for unlicensed runners. The entry fee for the 5km race is R30 per runner.
“Despatch SuperSpar is the main sponsor for the 10km and Klinicare is the main sponsor for the 5km race. There are other sponsors as indicated on the entry form through their logos,” Jonker said.
