SAPS Kariega detectives detained three suspects on charges of attempted murder and unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition after a shooting incident took place yesterday, 3 August in Kariega.
According to Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, preliminary reports showed that on the above-mentioned date at approximately 16:20, SAPS Kariega responded to a complaint of a shooting in Caledon Street, Kariega. “On arrival, they found the victim (37) with a gunshot wound to the right side of the chest. The victim was rushed to hospital for further treatment.”
She added that whilst processing the crime scene, the members followed up on information and apprehended three suspects aged between 27 and 35 at a local family restaurant. “The members confiscated a green VW Golf for further investigation and a 9mm firearm with ammunition.”
The suspects will appear in the Uitenhage Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 5 August.
