It seems like people are resting on their laurels because the crime stats says that Strandfontein precinct does not have a crime problem but word on the street is different to the stats.

I have had several of my neighbours tell me that they have been mugged or robbed, one even at gunpoint, so are the stats accurate?

Even if they are, this is actually besides the point since the muggings, robberies and burglaries are a reality for Villagers.

My friend lives in Rondebosch and she was surprised to hear that Strandfontein does not have more neighbourhood watches.

She said that where she lives, the private security companies and neighbourhood watches work together.

This should be a reality in our area too. I pay a fortune of private security and I frequently see some of their vans parking along Spine Road so why can they not patrol more and be another set of eyes and ears for the community like the residents in other more affluent areas have challenged them to do.

There is so many vagabonds loitering around Strandfontein.

Surely they report what they see to the narcotic forces in the area.

Why can’t the forces for good do the same?
