The Table View and Milnerton Lions Clubs recently banded together to participate in the 4 km Big Walk for Little Warriors along the Bloubergstrand beachfront.

The walk, held in partnership with the Childhood Cancer Foundation of South Africa (Choc) was to raise awareness of hildren and teenagers diagnosed with cancer or life-threatening blood disorders.

More than 100 people supported the walk organised by the Lions clubs of De Grendel, Table View and Milnerton.

Globally, childhood cancer is on the rise. It is now estimated that one in 408 children worldwide will be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 15 years.

Community Medics volunteers also participated in The Big Walk for Little Warriors. Similar walks were held nationally by Lions Clubs to raise funds for Choc, as well as build awareness about cancer in children.

“Our volunteers participated in the walk and were also on hand with one of our response vehicles, in case of a medical emergency.”
