A pregnant woman was left seriously injured this morning
when she was shot during an apparent cash-in-transit heist in Parow this
morning, ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said in a statement.
Meiring says paramedics arrived on the scene at
approximately 08h00 and found the local authorities already in attendance.
“Upon closer inspection, paramedics found a woman lying on
the side of the road. Paramedics assessed the woman and found that she had
sustained a gunshot wound to her chest, leaving her in a serious condition. The
woman was also found to be pregnant.”
He says paramedics treated the woman and provided her with
advanced life support interventions.
Police are still searching for suspects after cash in transit
heist and shootout in Parow on Tuesday morning.
Parow police spokesperson Captain Kevin Williams
confirmed that a woman was however hit by a stray bullet while walking on the
same bridge.
“Apparently the bullet penetrated her back and came out
at the front through her breast. The injured pedestrian was taken to the
Tygerberg hospital.”
Police still investigating.
