Tiny Owls Baby Home in Durbanville is once again proving that kindness grows when shared.
As part of their birthday celebrations this month — and in recognition of World Prematurity Day on 17 November — Tiny Owls has joined hands with two organisations, Rachel’s Wishes and Bless a Baby, to support mothers of premature babies in need.
While each organisation prepares its own special care bags — respectively Bags of Hope by Rachel’s Wishes and Bags of Dignity by Bless a Baby, Tiny Owls is passing on surplus baby clothing and essentials to Bless a Baby and teaming up with Rachel’s Wishes to help sort and pack their bags.
“Together, we are ensuring that every donation reaches the families who need it most,” says Juan Beukes, fundraising and marketing manager of Tiny Owls Baby Home.
Founded in memory of three-year-old Rachel Adcock, Rachel’s Wishes has raised over R1million since 2014, bringing joy and relief to over 19 000 children through charitable projects across the Western Cape.
Bless a Baby, established in 2002, provides new mothers in government hospitals with essential baby items, lovingly packed by volunteers.
“We could easily have said no when asked for help with donations,” says Beukes, “but collaboration allows us to extend our reach, share what we have and support more children and mothers in need.”
The Durbanville community is invited to get involved by donating preemie baby clothing, size 0 nappies, wipes, creams, gentle soaps or small gifts for moms.
