GrandWest will be closed temporarily.

GrandWest will temporarily close part of its Food Court area (Cape Village) and Welcome Centre (back entrance of Grand Arena) from midnight on Sunday 6 October to 08:00 on Tuesday 8 October.

GrandWest General Manager Mervyn Naidoo said: “The shutdown is phase 2 of our electric-system upgrade. The first phase was carried out in February this year. When it is completed our overhauled electric infrastructure and new generators will be better able to deal with future inconsistencies in grid supply.”

The gaming floors and all restaurants and bars in the district area will remain operational over this period. Wimpy and Silver Dollar Spur (situated in the Cape Village) will operate until 16:00 on Monday 7 October. The rest of the takeaway outlets, entertainment facilities and restaurants in the Cape Village area will be closed. Work is estimated to be completed by 08:00 on Tuesday 8 October and trading in this area will then commence as usual.

“We regret the inconvenience and thank their guests for their patience,” says Naidoo.
