This office confirms that the body of a 37-year old man was found in Zenzile Street, Bloekombos, with gunshot wounds to the upper body Tuesday morning at around 07:50.
“The investigation continues and no arrest has been made as yet,” says Traut.
The provincial education department expressed its sadness over the tragic death.
“The department was deeply saddened to hear about the death of a teacher allegedly outside his house. He was a Grade 11 and 12 isiXhosa teacher. Our thoughts go out to the family, friends and the school community. The department arranged for counselling support for the school,” says spokesperson Bronagh Hammond.
Chair of the Kraaifontein CPF Rob Bisset condemned the murder.
“The Kraaifontein detectives are investigating several factors. The life of a very experienced teacher was taken. Taking the life of an unarmed teacher is senseless,” he said.
