Motorists making their way to work on Thursday 7 April were left stunned after seeing a MyCiti bus involved in an accident near Racecourse Road in Milnerton.
It is alleged that a taxi driver skipped a red traffic signal and drove into the bus, then fleeing the scene.
Rob Quintas, the City’s Mayco member for urban mobility, said the incident happened at about 06:16 on Thursday morning.
“A minibus-taxi collided with a MyCiTi bus that was en route to Century City from Omuramba Station. The City was informed that there were two passengers on the bus when this incident happened – one passenger was taken to a nearby hospital for observation, and the other was fine,” he said.
Two pedestrians also involved in the accident sustained injuries and were admitted to hospitals. Road users were urged to make use of alternatives routes on Thursday.
“The City cannot divulge any further details. The police are investigating the matter,” Quintas says.
