A red Mercedes Benz allegedly stolen during an armed house robbery at a Haasendal estate was found abandoned in Brackenfell on Monday morning after a concerned resident discovered the vehicle outside her home.
The Springbok Park resident, who does not want to be named, made the unusual discovery when she woke to find the sporty sedan parked in front of her driveway with no driver in sight and the keys lying visibly on the front seat.
This was even more mysterious when I saw the door was open and the keys inside.”
It was very curious as none of the neighbours have ever seen the car before, and there was no driver in sight,” the resident said. “This was even more mysterious when I saw the door was open and the keys inside.”
After waiting until 11:00 for someone to claim the vehicle, the resident contacted local security firm, and the police was called to the scene. It was later established that the vehicle was stolen during the armed robbery the previous night. The investigation is ongoing at Kuils River police.
