Residents in Morgenster Heights are still reeling after a
shooting gone wrong in Frans Conradie Avenue last night (Monday 29 January),
wherein one man was killed.

Three men traveling in a Silver Ford Fiesta was shot at by
another occupant in the vehicle while traveling from Scottsville to
Brackenfell.

“Information suggests that the three men were in the vehicle
when an unknown man asked the driver for a lift while still in Scottsville
Kraaifontein. Once in the vehicle, he produced a firearm and wanted to rob the
occupants. The driver resisted and it is alleged that shots were fired at the
driver at this stage, after which he lost control of the vehicle,” says police
spokesperson Captain Erica Crous.

It is alleged that the vehicle then swerved off the road and
crashed through the back wall of a house in Marais street from the Frans
Conradie Avenue side.

Brackenfell police were called to the scene at about 23:15
where they found the body of an unknown man from Wallacedene in the back yard
of the house. Police confirmed that the man, who was the driver of the car,
died due to a gunshot wound to the head.

Also on the scene was the vehicle and the other two
passengers of the car, both injured as a result of the accident. They were
treated and transported to a nearby hospital.

Police say the robber got away on foot and no arrests had
been made as yet.

A case of Murder was opened and is being investigated by
Brackenfell police.
