The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation is inviting eligible Grade 6 learners across South Africa to apply for its High School Scholarship Programme ahead of the 15 September closing date.
The scholarship offers a long-term entrepreneurial development journey for young people who demonstrate curiosity, leadership potential and a desire to create meaningful change in their communities.
What the scholarship covers
Successful recipients gain access to a structured entrepreneurial curriculum designed to build confidence, unlock potential and cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset from an early age.
Benefits include tuition and boarding, uniform, stationery, textbooks, toiletries and casual clothing, a monthly allowance and support for extramural activities. The programme also includes workshops, speaker events and seminars, regional entrepreneurial experience sessions, an annual entrepreneurial conference, an online learning conference and programme officer support, mentorship, and one-on-one courageous conversations.

Who can apply?
The Foundation is looking for Grade 6 learners who demonstrate academic excellence, entrepreneurial leadership potential and financial need. Parents, guardians, teachers and schools are encouraged to identify learners who show curiosity, resilience, initiative and a desire to solve problems in the world around them.
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be completing Grade 6 in 2026.
- Show a genuine interest in becoming an entrepreneur or business owner.
- Achieve a minimum overall average of 70% for all subjects in Grade 5 and Grade 6.
- Achieve a minimum of 70% for both English and Mathematics in Grade 5 and Grade 6.
- Demonstrate clear financial need – household income, including business revenue, must not exceed a monthly gross income of R20 000.
- Be South African citizens, with at least one parent who is a South African citizen.
- Be born in 2014 or 2015 (no younger than 11 and no older than 12 years of age in Grade 6).
