The City of Cape Town has announced the commencement of roadworks in Brackenfell on Old Paarl Road, from Orion Road on the Kraaifontein side of the Everite Bridge towards William Dabbs Street before the onramp to the R300.
The roadworks, which are scheduled to start this week, are set to continue up until 12 May, depending on the weather conditions.
The City’s road infrastructure management department will be milling out the existing road surfacing and replacing it with a new asphalt road surface.
Road markings will be repainted once the road surface has been installed.
This work forms part of regular maintenance to prolong the longevity of the Cape Town’s road network, according to City’s Mayco member for urban mobility, Rob Quintas.
Due to traffic volumes during the daytime, the City has decided to execute the required work between 21:00 and 04:00 from Mondays to Fridays.
“Residents from the surrounding areas can expect a (higher) level of noise while work on Old Paarl Road is underway, however, we believe that the work at night will ensure that this project has the least impact on traffic congestion in the area. The team are on site busy with the preparation work and will start the evening work next week. We want to complete the work along this main road as soon as possible and thank residents for their patience while work is underway,” said Quintas, adding that the City will ensure that flag personnel direct traffic around the work area.
