A man was injured during a house robbery recently in Peperboom Street, Kuils River.
Armed response company, Bassett Alarms reported in a social media post that they responded to a house robbery in progress around 06:00 on Friday 22 April.
The security officer who arrived at the home at 06:06 “found that the residents were still locked up in the house.”
When backup arrived “entry was gained by forcing open the kitchen door.
“Residents were found tied up in a room, with the male bleeding profusely. Officers immediately applied medical treatment to a bleeding leg wound whilst summoning emergency services,” reads Basset’s post.
Reportedly the man sustained a broken jaw and ribs due to assault by the intruders.
“By applying pressure to the leg wound, officers succeeded to stop the bleeding, put the gentleman in an elevated position, comforting him, till the ambulance arrived at 06:43.
“Paramedics praised officers for the medical treatment applied, and took the resident to hospital for further treatment. Various items, as well as the resident’s vehicle, were stolen,” according to Bassett.
Provincial police spokesperson, Cpt Frederick van Wyk, says Kuils River Police are investigating a house robbery case, which happened on Friday 22 April at 04:00 in Pepperboom Street.
The stolen vehicle, a Nissan Micra, was found abandoned in Nwamakazi Street in Philippi East on Saturday 23 April.
According to reports three suspects were involved and are still at large.
