A reward of up to R100 000 is being offered by the Police Ministry for information that could lead to the arrest and prosecution of the two suspects responsible for the murder of an elderly woman in Kraaifontein last month.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie the murder took place in Wallacedene on 20 August 20 around 19:30.
“The 64-year-old woman was shot and killed on the corner of Maroela and Ntongabini street,” Pojie said.
“Preliminary information gathered revealed that two suspects approached the victim on the pretext of purchasing meat from her. They allegedly followed the victim into her shack where she was shot in the head. The suspects then fled the scene on foot and are yet to be arrested.”
The suspects have been identified as Siyabonga Kholakele (29), and Yanele Mangweni (32).
“We appeal to anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or via the MySAPS mobile application,” he said.
At the time of her murder allegations surfaced that the woman, a street vendor, was allegedly shot for failing to pay monthly “protection fees” to extortionists.These motive for the murder could not be confirmed by police, and the case is still under investigation.
