After 42 years and 264 days, the Table View police bids farewell to Sarah Bekker, who retired on Thursday 1 August.
Bekker was a principal typist for the detective branch at Table View Police Station since 25 May 2009.
She started her career in the police force on 11 November 1981 at the Springs District Office.
She worked at Sundra Police Station, situated in Delmas, (Mpumalanga) from October 1996 until her transfer to Table View in 2009.
She stated that she will be pursuing her hobbies, “which include gardening, scrapbooking and Bible studies whilst on retirement, and looking forward to enjoying nature even more,” Bekker says.
She adds she will miss her colleagues and work environment.
Station Commander Col Tjikamba Mbangu thanked Bekker for her loyal service to the organisation.
“She is a committed and diligent worker, who always conducted herself in a professional manner, towards the community and her colleagues.
“She will be dearly missed by everyone at Table View Police Station”. He wished her well in her retirement.
“All her colleagues shared the same sentiment, they will miss her presence as part of the police family and wish her a peaceful retirement,” says Table View police spokesperson, Capt Adriana Chandler.
