On Friday 8 August, members of Operation Restore deployed in the Western Cape acted on information about illegal firearms being kept at a residence in Herschell Street, Ruyterwacht.
Upon arriving at the identified premises, officers searched a wendy-house on the property. Inside, they discovered a backpack containing three firearms and ammunition of various calibres. A 35-year-old man was arrested on the scene and faces charges of unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. He is expected to appear in the Goodwood Magistrates’ Court once formally charged.
The Operation Restore team remains committed to removing illegal firearms from the streets in an effort to curb gun violence and protect the safety of communities.
