Residents of Dunoon woke to scenes of horror this morning (Monday 23 February) after two men and a woman were gunned down outside a shack in the Ekuphumleni informal settlement.
According to reports from the scene, the deceased were gunned down in front of a shack by yet to be identified suspects. The gunmen reportedly fled the scene shortly after the shooting.
Provincial police spokesperson Brig Novela Potelwa confirmed that serious violent crime detectives are actively investigating the case.
“Western Cape serious violent crimes unit detectives are currently pursuing several leads as part of an investigation into an incident in which two men and a woman were shot and killed at Ekuphumleni informal settlement in Dunoon, Milnerton in the early hours of Monday morning 23 February,” said Potelwa.
She added that the motive for the attack remains unknown and forms part of the ongoing investigation.
Police appeal for information
Police have urged the public to come forward with any information that could assist in tracing the suspects.
“Anyone with information that could assist the police investigation is urged to contact the police on 08600 10111 or via the MySAPS app. All information received will be handled with the necessary care,” Potelwa said.
No arrests have been made at this stage, and investigations continue.
Another triple murder in Joe Slovo
Another triple murder has rocked the community of Joe Slovo, after three people were gunned down in a late-night shooting on Saturday.
Milnerton police are investigating the incident, which occurred at approximately 22:30 on Saturday 21 February, in Freedom Way.
Provincial police spokesperson Col Andre Traut said officers responded to the scene and found a silver Toyota Avanza riddled with bullet holes.
“Inside the vehicle were the bodies of two adult females who were declared deceased at the scene. A few metres away, the body of a 36-year-old male was also found,” said Traut.
According to information provided by a family member, the deceased man was previously involved in the taxi industry and one of the female victims was reportedly his girlfriend. The motive for the attack remains unknown and no arrests have been made.
The case has been assigned to detectives from the provincial serious and violent crime unit of the police for further investigation.
Police have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or who has information that could assist the investigation to come forward. Information can be reported anonymously via Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or through the MySAPS mobile application.
