A 37-year-old man was arrested on Sunday morning in Tafelsig for possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition during an Operation Shanela II raid.
Police, acting on a tip off about a person in possession of a firearm at a house in Du Toits Kloof Street, raided the premises at 09:20 on 18 January.

Police’s provincial office spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, said officers searched the house thoroughly and found a zip gun with a 9mm round of ammunition concealed within the walls of the toilet.
The suspect will appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrates’ Court once charged.
