A 28-year-old woman from Scottsdene, Cape Town, has been arrested and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition after members of the Kraaifontein Crime Prevention Unit seized a 9mm pistol and more than 150 rounds of ammunition from her home.
The operation formed part of the unit’s ongoing crime prevention efforts in the area.
The arrest followed the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Rigoletto Street, Scottsdene, late on Sunday, 03 May. Officers arrived at the premises at approximately 23:30 and located the suspect on site before proceeding to search the property.

“The search yielded a 9mm pistol along with 124 rounds of .45 ammunition, 19 rounds of .38 ammunition, and nine rounds of 9mm ammunition. The operation formed part of the unit’s ongoing crime prevention efforts in the area,” says provincial police spokesperson Const. Ndakhe Gwala.
She is expected to appear before the Kuils River Magistrate’s Court today, Tuesday, 05 May.
